Phyllis Strupp Bio
Award-winning author and brain coach Phyllis Strupp speaks across the U.S. on how to boost brain savvy to overcome challenges and achieve goals. Her dynamic programs educate audiences on why the brain gets better with age, and how to apply important scientific findings to improve the brain's performance in key areas such as focus, motivation, learning, memory, creativity, and relationships.
In addition to twelve years of research, writing, and teaching related to the brain, she is a graduate of the Brain Research in Education Certificate Program of the University of Washington-Seattle. She also holds a BA in History with honors from Rutgers University. She serves on the faculty of the national CREDO Clergy Wellness Program and is a member of the International Council on Active Aging.
Phyllis’ applied, action-oriented approach to speaking is informed by a thirty-year business career. After graduating from Columbia University with an MBA in finance, she held financial positions with Dun and Bradstreet and Equitable Life in New York City. After earning the CLU and ChFC designations, she worked as a financial representative with Northwestern Mutual for 19 years, including over 10 years of MDRT production and experience in sales management, training, and speaking.
Her work with the brain arose from her book The Richest of Fare: Seeking Spiritual Security in the Sonoran Desert, winner of the 2005 Independent Publishing Award for the best mind-body-spirit book. This innovative volume considers how a love of nature and science can be integrated into the spiritual journey.
A single line from the book guided her current direction: “Cerebral wealth, not financial wealth, is the key to overcoming fear.” Currently Phyllis writes about the brain in her column for the Episcopal News Service and on the buildfaith.org blog.
Well versed in the latest scientific insights and taking a pragmatic, you-can-do-it approach, Phyllis offers a unique and humorous perspective on how brain savvy can help us achieve goals and enrich our lives.
